Post 100! Happy New Year

Hello and Happy New Year everyone!

We've made it to 2013. What timing eh? Post 100 and a new year. I think I'm just going to take this opportunity to let you know what's been going on in WoW for me.

First off, externally, as you can see, I'm not writing as frequently as I'd like to. I have resigned as wikibrarian for Twisted Nether but that doesn't mean I will not continue to work with them. Hopefully I will be able to pick up something else. That just didn't seem to be working. By the time I got to it Rio had them done. So I didn't feel like I was contributing very much.

I have been trying to work on a new banner for this site but have not been able to create anything I like. I am not the most savvy with computer artwork or graphics. I just don't do it that often.

In game is going ok. I have been so crazy at work the last few months that I have not been spending any quality WoW time during the week. Being a weekend warrior is just not good enough for me. I have been trying to figure out ways to make it easier to get on more. I hope that now the new year has begun, and I have gotten caught up at work, that the brain fry I have been experiencing will cease, and I will want to do something besides stare at the TV and eat when I come home from work. We shall see.

Dailies suck. I think I will expound on that in another post. They wear me out.

We are not raiding. We lost a couple of raiders in November and they all happen to be healers. We are currently recruiting for 2 healer spots if anyone is interested. Not that there is a ton of people reading this to make a difference.

I created a guild website for my guild that no one is going to. That is fun. I have been trying to make it more fun to try out but it's not working. Any suggestions are awesome. Honestly I didn't expect much. We had a website before that was hardly visited. Now with the in-game calendar,  events, and recruiting there is really no reason for a website. We have a facebook page so I thought perhaps this would be a good alternative to that. Where people could leave posts and messages. Facebook is so convenient that I don't think this will take really. I'm not paying for it so that's ok.

That's about it. Rather hum drum ho hum right now. Which I find a bit frustrating.

There is good news here. I have had several friends return to the game around Christmas time, and a few new friends join the game. I'm very excited and happy to see them return. One of them is the woman who got me started playing. I'm excited to be able to spend some time in game with them. We all rolled Panda's last week and are playing once or twice a week together. This is my roll playing gang also so it's like an additional game night for us. We all hop on vent and yell at the new people to keep up lol.

I have plans to get this site a little more spruced up if I can find the time to spend with Gimp and learn more better (yes that is a word...more better) how to use it. /fingers crossed
I also owe ElJeppy a review about the new keyboard...oh new! Wait, I have a bunch of new stuff. New keyboard, new computer and new headset. Very exciting. I can now get more than 4 fps!! woot!

All righty that's it for today. I need to go play now. :)  Happy New Year!

Changing Yet Again....Spec #3

So here I am again. I was running Demonology until my first raid. With another Lock in my raid running Affliction I couldn't help but be impressed by the numbers he was generating. Nearly twice what I was doing. That could mean I just sucked but who knows.

After serious consideration I have changed yet again. If you listen to Twisted Nether you'll know that I was talking to Hydra about it and had respecced while she was in town here in Orlando.

I decided no holds barred I was going to just close my eyes and jump. I changed everything. My Destro is now gone (/mourn). It has been replaced with full-fledged, totally committed, Affliction. I have reforged, regemmed and torn apart my bars to move items into their correct rotational situational position (hehe). I have modified macro's and learned new skills.

After running it now for 2 weeks I am still not sure if I feel like it's me yet but I'm working on it. I am still figuring the more subtle things such as when to use Drain Soul to get the most damage. Those sorts of small things that mean more than just hitting buttons.

What I do know is this:
I enjoy the dot juggling, it's very similar to what I was doing with destro except the filler is different. Instead of Incinerate I'm channeling Malefic Grasp.
I miss having something to hurl at the enemy. With Affliction there is no Chaos Bolt or Shadow Bolt. It is totally dot dot dot dash(channel). I can throw the occasional Haunt which is a lot of fun but doesn't feel as ominous to me. It's not the I'm gonna blast your ass away, it's more the I'm gonna sneak up on you and cut it off when you're not looking kinda thing. Surprise! You're dead! That works for me.
When I can get the Soulburn & Soul Swap going whew boy! Now THAT is good times. If you manage it right you can take a mob down in a hot second. It works beautifully for two or three at once.

I plan to keep working on this and playing with the glyphs and talents as I go. I'll try to keep you posted since I've started talking about this more, and let you all know how it's going.

Blizzcon 2010 - Short and Sweet

Since I'm writing so late about this I figured most everything you could want has already been covered. So I'm just going to include a short article I wrote that was read on TNB Blogcast episode 106.

I don't have much else to add. It was great to attend the panels, walk around the vendor booths and be at Blizzcon in person. There is not a whole lot of Cata news to share that isn't out there already.

When Fim asked me to write about Blizzcon for the show I was at a loss as to what to write about. It didn't take very long for me to narrow down the topic. I found that the best part of Blizzcon for me was meeting everyone. Not only Fimlys, Nibuca and Hydra, but oodles and oodles of people that all wanted to do the same thing. Talk about and experience Blizzcon, Blizzard and WoW. I am lucky to have a husband who plays, as well as some friends at work. I always have people around to "geek out" with. Blizzcon though, brought a whole nother level. Walking down the streets of Anaheim and listening to people espouse about ganking or being ganked, nerfed or buffed was a unique and awesome experience. Knowing that I was surrounded by 25,000 other people that think and speak the same way I do, and are as excited about WoW as I am, was something I will never forget. I remember turning to my husband and saying..."It's meh people!". Truth be told it really is. Rarely have I felt as much a part of a community as I did that weekend.
I think what made the experience come together though, were the plans and meet-ups that happened off the convention floor. I don't think I would have had as much fun if it wasn't for the rest of the Twisted Nether crew. If you ever have a chance to go to any of the meet-ups, and I mean any meet-up at all, do it!! Fight the nerd urge to be shy or introverted and go. You will not regret it.
Blizzard didn't have much news for us WoW'ers this year. The panels were kinda lackadaisical, and all the info and trailers for Cataclysm are already out. There was nothing there that could not have been bought on-line somewhere or viewed over the webs or satellites for a nominal fee. What you couldn't get any other way was the camaraderie.
